FACT and Crimestoppers have launched a six-week campaign across Ireland to tackle illegal streaming. The campaign, active on Facebook and Instagram, encourages the public to report those involved in advertising or selling illegal streaming services, modified firesticks, or ‘dodgy boxes.’

Digital piracy, often managed by organized crime, can lead to serious consequences. Recent cases include Ciaran Donovan’s 16-month prison sentence for illegal access codes and Amir Butt and Ammar Hussain’s combined 11-year sentence for running a similar service.

This campaign aims to reduce digital piracy and protect consumers from malware, identity theft, and financial loss. FACT’s CEO Kieron Sharp and a Crimestoppers spokesperson both highlighted the campaign’s importance and urged the public to report illegal activities to help safeguard communities and individuals.
