Spotify experienced a significant outage on Sunday, lasting about three hours and impacting over 40,000 users in the United States at its peak, according to Downdetector. Users reported issues such as streaming limitations, playlist loading failures, and random music stoppages. By 3 p.m. ET (1900 GMT), the number of users still facing problems had decreased to fewer than 600, and Spotify confirmed the resolution on social media, stating, “Everything’s looking much better now!”

Despite the outage, Spotify’s paid subscriber base grew to 246 million in Q2. The company has not publicly disclosed the reason behind the outage, which had a noticeable impact on user experience but did not significantly affect its overall subscriber growth.
