At the 2024 Indian Gaming Convention, Sandhya Devanathan, Meta’s VP and India Head, emphasized gaming as a key driver in India’s journey to a $1 trillion digital economy. She highlighted how gaming not only connects people but also contributes to economic growth, with 400 million gamers in India projected to double by 2028. The industry is expected to generate 700 million gamers, 300,000 jobs, and $8 billion in revenue by then.

Devanathan outlined Meta’s contributions to gaming through platform innovation, empowering communities, and delivering value to gaming companies. She also highlighted Meta’s focus on AI, community building, and gender inclusion, positioning gaming as crucial to both economic and social progress in India.
