Bank of Baroda, a leading public sector bank in India, has introduced its latest initiative, the #PehchaanCon 3.0 Banking Fraud awareness campaign, aimed at educating the public about modern financial scams, including the use of artificial intelligence-generated deepfake technology. The campaign underscores the importance of vigilance in safeguarding against increasingly sophisticated fraudulent activities, according to the bank.
In this phase of the #PehchaanCon campaign, the Bank has unveiled two new advertisements featuring actor Kunaal Roy Kapur. These advertisements vividly portray how individuals, regardless of their intelligence or strength, can fall victim to deception. With fraudsters utilizing advanced deepfake techniques to impersonate trusted individuals or exploit online shoppers by posing as delivery agents requesting OTPs for unauthorized access to personal data, the ads highlight the diverse methods employed to perpetrate fraud.
The advertisements underscore the vulnerability of everyone to such schemes. Kapur portrays a thoughtful and empathetic doctor who listens to his patients’ concerns while contemplating ways to safeguard against future frauds. They stress the importance of vigilance, awareness, and the ability to identify potential fraudsters to protect oneself and confidential financial information, ensuring a secure online banking and shopping experience.
Shri Lal Singh, Executive Director of Bank of Baroda, commented on the prevalence of online frauds and their evolving nature due to technological advancements. He emphasized the necessity for heightened vigilance and urged customers to familiarize themselves with potential frauds and scams. The #PehchaanCon campaign serves as a reminder of the importance of self-awareness in safeguarding one’s hard-earned money from the ever-present threats posed by cybercriminals.
