Google has removed over 180 Android apps from the Play Store following an investigation into a large-scale ad fraud scheme. Discovered by Integral Ad Science (IAS), the fraud involved shell apps posing as legitimate tools like health and fitness apps, but were used solely to display video ads. The scheme, known as “Vapor Threat,” exploited ad networks to generate fraudulent revenue. Google acted quickly to remove the apps, showcasing its commitment to combating ad fraud and maintaining the integrity of the Play Store.
