Vodafone and Intelsat have renewed their partnership to improve satellite connectivity for organizations in hard-to-reach areas and disaster zones. This expanded collaboration will enhance Vodafone’s terrestrial networks, enabling businesses, governments, and charities to access broadband connectivity in remote regions. This service will support various applications, such as cargo tracking, connecting temporary sites, and enhancing communication resilience during emergencies. Vodafone will integrate Intelsat’s Flex portfolio into its offerings, providing two connectivity products: Communications-on-the-Move (COTM) with a vehicle-mounted antenna and Communications-on-the-Pause (COTP) with a compact satellite terminal.
The partnership will also bolster the Vodafone Foundation’s efforts in connected health and education projects across Europe and Africa, helping NGOs and governments respond to environmental and humanitarian crises. Marika Auramo, CEO of Vodafone Business, emphasized that this agreement adds significant depth to their global network, enhancing connectivity in some of the hardest-to-reach areas. Jean Philippe Gillet, SVP at Intelsat, noted that reliable connectivity is crucial for community welfare, and their Flex services aim to deliver that connectivity to various sectors, including charitable initiatives and global enterprises.
