After the hacktivist collective Nullbulge claimed responsibility for disclosing more than 1.2 gigabytes of internal correspondence, Disney launched an investigation into a potentially serious data breach. Sensitive data on future projects, advertising efforts, and even employee details are purportedly included in this incident.
Disney was the focus of Nullbulge, a group that defends artists’ rights, because they believe that Disney uses artificial intelligence (AI) in its creative processes at the expense of artists. The hackers said they used an insider to gain access to Disney’s internal Slack channels, although this hasn’t been independently confirmed.
According to reports, project specifics, technical data, and raw photos are all included in the leaked material. In the past, Nullbulge has opposed the application of AI in the creative sectors, claiming that doing so would be intellectual theft.
Disney has acknowledged the probe, but it has not disclosed the scope or consequences of the security breech. Concerns about how AI would affect artists’ livelihoods have increased in the creative industry as a result of this incident.
