In 2024, Google removed over 247.4 million ads and suspended 2.9 million advertiser accounts in India as part of its efforts to combat malicious advertising, according to its latest Ads Safety Report.
Key violations in India included financial services abuse, trademark infringements, and network abuse, followed by issues in personalised ads and gambling content.
Globally, Google blocked 5.1 billion ads, restricted 9.1 billion, and suspended over 39.2 million advertiser accounts, many before a single ad was served. Its advanced AI systems, including Large Language Models (LLMs), played a critical role in detecting threats and improving enforcement, especially in publisher policy violations.
Google also cracked down on AI-driven scams, suspending 700,000+ accounts and cutting related complaints by 90%. In response to 2024’s major elections, it verified 8,900+ election advertisers and removed 10.7 million election ads from unverified sources—introducing AI content disclosure rules to uphold transparency.
