Meta has announced Movie Gen, a new AI model designed to create realistic video and audio clips based on prompts. The company claims it could compete with leading AI startups like OpenAI. Sample creations include people painting on canvases using original images and videos of animals surfing and swimming. Movie Gen can also generate sound effects and background music.
In a blog post, Meta explained that the tool can edit existing videos. For example, it demonstrated how pom poms could be added to a man’s hands as he runs in the desert. Videos can be up to 16 seconds long, while audio clips can last up to 45 seconds.
