Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind and Inflection AI, has called India one of the company’s fastest-growing markets. During his first visit to India, he praised the country’s strong engineering teams in Bengaluru and Hyderabad and highlighted the involvement of diverse professionals, including social scientists and psychologists, in AI development.

Suleyman discussed the transformative potential of AI to drive economic growth, similar to how the internet revolutionized information access. He emphasized the role of AI-powered tools like Microsoft 365 Copilot, which assist users across applications like Word, Excel, and Teams, enhancing productivity by providing real-time, tailored support.

On AI’s accessibility, Suleyman pointed to the importance of voice technology for diverse populations. He also stressed the need for proactive AI regulation to ensure safety and encourage open dialogue on the subject.

Suleyman’s visit comes amid Microsoft’s growing investments in India, including acquiring land for a new data center in Pune and partnering with Telangana to build a large data center in Hyderabad, with further investments in the pipeline. This aligns with the increasing demand for cloud services in India.
