OYO has updated its check-in policy, now discouraging unmarried couples from checking in at its partner hotels. Starting in Meerut, couples must provide valid proof of relationship, even for online bookings. The company may extend this policy to other cities based on feedback.

Pawas Sharma, Region Head of OYO North India, stated that the company is committed to safe hospitality practices and is working with law enforcement and civil groups. Partner hotels are also allowed to decline couple bookings based on local social norms. This move is seen as part of OYO’s efforts to reposition itself as a safer platform for families and solo travelers.
