The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has introduced new guidelines requiring registered intermediaries to verify their identities before advertising on platforms like Google and Meta. This move aims to combat the rise in fraudulent activities targeting investors through social media and digital platforms.

Intermediaries must register on these platforms using contact details linked to SEBI’s SI Portal, which will be verified by the platforms before allowing ads. SEBI has set a deadline of April 30, 2025, for intermediaries to update their contact information. This initiative is part of SEBI’s efforts to enhance investor protection and curb deceptive marketing practices online.
