Standard Chartered Bank and the Museum of Solutions in Mumbai have teamed up to launch the Futuremakers programme, aimed at empowering 100 children from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools. This initiative will help these students develop prototypes for sustainable solutions to real-world problems.
The programme, supported by Teach for India, will provide workshops and training in critical skills such as problem-solving, leadership, and innovation. Students will work on projects related to hydroponics, composting, automation, and more, while also learning to create business plans and campaigns.
The first cohort of 50 students from selected BMC schools will present their prototypes, addressing issues like water scarcity and sustainable food, to industry leaders and investors in December 2024, with a second presentation in March 2025.
Standard Chartered will also sponsor visits for over 15,000 students to the Museum of Solutions this academic year and collaborate with the BMC Education Department to ensure broad access for students in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
Karuna Bhatia of Standard Chartered emphasized the programme’s role in fostering education and sustainable development, while Abhik Bhattacherji of the Museum of Solutions highlighted the focus on real-world problem-solving and a solution-oriented mindset.
Futuremakers is a global initiative by Standard Chartered aimed at boosting economic inclusion through education, employability, and entrepreneurship for disadvantaged youth.
