Music company Vinyl Group is making a strong entry into the media space with the launch of Vinyl Media, bringing its owned and licensed publications under one umbrella. Led by COO Joel King as interim General Manager, the new division follows key acquisitions, including The Brag Media, which added Rolling Stone Australia and Variety Australia to its portfolio. The company is also finalizing its purchase of Concrete Playground, a popular city guide in Australia and New Zealand.
Additionally, Vinyl Media has secured a deal to revive Refinery29 in Australia, expanding its lifestyle content offerings. The division goes beyond publications, combining content, creative talent, and live event expertise, leveraging The Brag Media’s partnerships and the recently acquired Funkified events company.
Its extensive media portfolio includes The Music Network, Tone Deaf, and partnerships with brands like Rotten Tomatoes, Bluesfest Byron Bay, Letterboxd, and Crunchyroll, catering to diverse audiences.
CEO Josh Simons sees Vinyl Media as a major step in shaping Australia’s media and cultural landscape. “We’re building a platform for storytelling and engagement that will resonate with audiences across the country,” he stated.
