Warner Music Group (WMG) has acquired a controlling stake in Tempo Music Investments, an investment platform for premium music rights, from Providence Equity Partners. Providence will remain a minority investor and continue advising WMG.

Tempo, launched in 2019 as a partnership between WMG and Providence, has built a diverse catalog focused on empowering artists and songwriters. WMG’s acquisition expands its reach by adding rights from songwriters they don’t currently represent, while also increasing the scope of their administration and distribution.

Tempo’s catalog includes rights from top artists like Tyler Joseph (Twenty One Pilots), Wiz Khalifa, Florida Georgia Line, and others. WMG’s investment strategy aims to build scale, influence, and high-margin revenue.

Moelis & Company and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP advised Tempo and Providence on the deal.
