Launched in November 2024, Zomato’s District app has quickly gained traction, surpassing 6.5 million downloads within a few months. The app’s focus is on transitioning users from platforms like Zomato, Paytm, and Insider to create a unified destination for dining, events, and entertainment in India. Enhancing customer engagement and offering new, unique experiences are key priorities.
However, Zomato faces challenges, with the Q3FY25 report showing a 57% decline in profit due to investments in the District app. The company expects losses in the near term but aims for growth by expanding its dining and entertainment ticketing services, which are expected to drive future success.
Zomato’s quick commerce arm, Blinkit, reported significant revenue growth, but also an increase in losses. Despite heightened competition and a demand slowdown in food delivery, Zomato is optimistic about growth prospects for District and its other services in the coming years.
