Maruti Suzuki India has appointed Sunil Kakkar as Additional Director and Whole-time Director (Corporate Planning) for a three-year term, effective April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2028. The appointment was approved at the Board meeting on March 26, 2025. Kakkar, with over 35 years of experience at Maruti Suzuki, will guide the company’s long-term strategy, focus on localization, and prepare for future challenges.

Additionally, Kenichiro Toyofuku will be re-designated as Director (Sustainability) from April 1, 2025. Kakkar, an IIT Kanpur engineering graduate with an MBA from the Asian Institute of Technology, has held key roles, including heading Supply Chain and managing Maruti’s Gurgaon operations, and has played a significant role in strategic growth and joint ventures.
